SEO - Just Add Water.....NOT!

I miss the old days....life was simple. Your TV had just a few channels, your phone was attached to a wall, and the computer was cool thing to have for the few who could afford one. But times change, our world changes and technology grows. TV has 200 plus channels (and still nothing on), your phone is attached to your hip and you could not live without a computer and the Internet is filled with billions of pages.

SEO was an easy job then. It was a no brainer. It was fast, it worked and the stress was little. Well, those days are long gone and the facts of SEO are no longer as easy as it use to be. It is not a quick fix and it is an ongoing process.

Sure, there are hundreds of SEO companies available for you to choose from. Cheap ones that say they submit your site to 1000's of engines (big deal), ones that add 100's of doorway pages (look out for spam), those that promise fast top rankings (they lie). Let's face it, for SEO there is The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. But lets not focus on the bad and ugly....they may be cheap, but you get what you pay for...nothing!

SEO is not instant, not any more. You need to look at many factors, you need to be prepared to make changes, you need to be willing to work closely with your SEO expert and be willing to be in it for the long haul. SEO changes and you need to be ready to meet those changes.

You should be serious about your web site. This is your business and you need to treat it as so. Canned web sites, website templates that offer everything from stores to products to hosting and say you have no worries on updating the site and still can achieve rankings may be a bit misleading. SEO is ongoing work and one you need to be prepared to handle.

Your SEO Expert serves two purposes...to guide you in changes that you need to make to a web site and to help you optimize your web site by actually working within the site so that you can be found for relevant keyword phrases.

Your Web Site Design

It used to be that design aspects really did not matter. Well, now they do and it is a big deal. If your site is poorly designed, poorly coded and developed using complex databases or heavily graphic, you face issues. You may need to make changes, you may want to develop a new site...whatever the need, your SEO will inform you what issues may be causing the site from being read correctly.

Your Keywords

Please...generic words may seem like the best, but with billions of pages, is it really feasible? Keyword phrases are extremely important, phrases that target your audience is imperative. Your SEO expert should work with you on helping you to make the most important choices on good, targeted and precise phrases that will target your consumer or product line.

Your Content

Using your keywords in content is important for the engines. Having good content is important to your consumer as well. Lack of content is not going to help you gain on the engines and lack of content is not going to help your consumer understand your product line. Your SEO expert can provide you writing assistance for those do it yourself folks or provide you with their expert content writers. Do not be fooled...if you are not using keywords with content, how can you expect to achieve rankings for those phrases?

Your Site Link Popularity

If no one else thinks your web site is important, then why would a consumer. You web site needs to be found on relevant web sites. You need to get your site out there....it needs to be seen on other web sites. Not doing so means that even you do not think your site is important enough to share with others. Your SEO can help you achieve a successful link campaign or even consult with you on the process. This is a time consuming task, and it needs to be done right. I mean, you want you site to be seen on the best of sites, so take the time to consider getting a link to those sites that can help you be seen as an expert in your product field.

Your Blog

Funny word...Blog. I mean, what does it really mean? Who came up with it...well who cares. What is important is that they are fabulous for helping with you SEO campaign. They are informative, they are easy to navigate, they contain content and so much more. Bogs are the way to go to help enhance your site. Again, your SEO can help you by developing a blog, you can easily learn to maintain it, keep it fresh, keep it current.

Conclusion

Sure, SEO is just part of your marketing game plan. But it is a vital one when used with your other online and offline marketing. Gone are the days of easy rankings. Just because you built it, doesn't mean they'll come. A website is a business and as such deserves your time and your professional SEO to help you achieve your goals and bottom line success. How Google Works - Search Engine Marketing Services

Google drives a huge proportion of the search traffic on the internet. What this means for you is that if you can understand Google, then if you were to build a website (as an affiliate), then you'll stand a much better chance of ranking highly on the specific search terms that you're targeting (e.g. "dog training", "dalmation training",
"stop german shepherd digging", and so on).

I'm going to provide for you a no-nonsense, but yet comprehensive guide to how Google works.Google has a comprehensive and highly developed technology, a straightforward interface and a wide-ranging array of search tools which enable the users to easily access a variety of information online. Google users can browse the web and find information in various languages, retrieve maps, stock quotes and read news, search for a long lost friend using the phonebook listings available on Google for all of US cities and basically surf the 3 billion odd web pages on the internet! Google boasts of having world's largest archive of Usenet messages, dating all the way back to 1981. Google's technology can be
accessed from any conventional desktop PC as well as from various wireless platforms such as WAP and i-mode phones, handheld devices
and other such Internet equipped gadgets. The web search technology offered by Google is often the technology of choice of the world's leading portals and websites. It has also
benefited the advertisers with its unique advertising program that does not hamper the web surfing experience of its users but still
brings revenues to the advertisers.

Google's Web Search Technology

When you search for a particular keyword or a phrase, most of the search engines return a list of page in order of the number of times the keyword or phrase appears on the website. Google web search technology involves the use of its indigenously designed PageRank Technology and hypertext-matching analysis which makes several instantaneous calculations undertaken without any human intervention. Google's structural design also expands simultaneously as the internet expands.

PageRank technology

PageRank technology involves the use of an equation which comprises of millions of variables and terms and determines a factual measurement of the significance of web pages and is calculated by solving an equation of 500 million variables and more than 3 billion terms. Unlike some other search engines, Google does not calculate links but utilizes the extensive link structure of the web as an organizational tool. When the link to a Page, lets say Page B is clicked from a Page A, then that click is attributed as a vote towards Page B on behalf of Page A. Quintessentially, Google calculates the importance of a page by the number of such 'votes' it receives. Not only that, Google also assesses the importance of the pages that are involved in the voting process. Consequently, pages that are themselves ahead in ranking and are important in that way also help to make other pages important
One thing to note here is that Google's technology does not involve human intervention in anyway and uses the inherent intelligence of the internet and its resources to determine the ranking and importance of any page. Not only that, Google also evaluates the content of its nearest web pages. This policy of not disregarding any subject matter pays off in the end and enables Google to return results that are closest to user queries.

1. When the query is submitted and the enter key is pressed, the web server sends the query to the index servers. Index server is exactly what its name suggests; it consists of an index much like the index of a book which displays where is the particular page containing the queried term is located in the entire book.

2. After this, the query proceeds to the doc servers, and these servers actually retrieve the stored documents. Page descriptions or "snippets" are then generated to suitably describe each search result.

3. These results are then returned to the user in less than a second!

The Google Dance

Approximately once a month, Google update their index by
recalculating the Pageranks of each of the web pages that they have
crawled. The period during the update is known as the Google dance.

Because of the nature of PageRank, the calculations need to be
performed about 40 times and, because the index is so large, the
calculations take several days to complete.

During this period, the search results fluctuate; sometimes
minute-by minute. It is because of these fluctuations that the
term, Google Dance, was coined. The dance usually takes place
sometime during the last third of each month.

Google has two other servers that can be used for searching. The
search results on them also change during the monthly update and
they are part of the Google dance.

For the rest of the month, fluctuations sometimes occur in the
search results, but they should not be confused with the actual
dance. They are due to Google's fresh crawl and to what is known
"Everflux".

Google has two other searchable servers apart from www.google.com.

They are www2.google.com and www3.google.com. Most of the time, the
results on all 3 servers are the same, but during the dance, they
are different.

For most of the dance, the rankings that can be seen on www2 and
www3 are the new rankings that will transfer to www when the dance
is over. Even though the calculations are done about 40 times, the
final rankings can be seen from very early on. This is because,
during the first few iterations, the calculated figures merge to
being close to their final figures.

You can see this with the Pagerank Calculator by checking the Data
box and performing some calculations. After the first few
iterations the search results on www2 and www3 may still change,
but only slightly.

During the dance, the results from www2 and www3 will sometimes
show on the www server, but only briefly. Also, new results on www2
and www3 can disappear for short periods. At the end of the dance,
the results on www will match those on www2 and www3.

This Google Dance Tool allows you to check your rankings on www,
www2 and www3 and on all 9 datacenters simultaneously.

How to maximize Google's Search Features?

Find It ASAP

The Google Web Directory works in combination of the Google Search
Technology and the Netscape Open Directory Project which makes it
possible to search the Internet organized by topic.

Google displays the pages in order of the rank given to it using
the PageRank Technology. It not only searches the titles and
descriptions of the websites, but searches the entire content of
sites within a category, which ultimately delivers a comprehensive
search to the users.

Google also has a fully functional web directory which categorizes
all the searches in order.

In case you are feeling lucky

The I'm Feeling Lucky(TM) search button is recommended when searching
for a highest ranked web page for a particular search. This saves
time in searching for a webpage.

The multi-faceted Google Toolbar

The Google Toolbar(TM) can seamlessly integrate with a user's web
browser and be of quick assistance.

Pandora's Box

- Google enables its users to search for U.S. street maps
immediately by just typing the street name in the query box.

- Latest stock quotes are just a click away. Just type in the
company ticker symbol or the name of one of the stock indices stock
and mutual fund information and Google will return the relevant
information in association with high-profile financial and trading
concerns.

Cache me if you can

Google takes a snapshot of each page it examined as it crawls the
web and stores or caches them as a back-up in case the original
page is unavailable.

This cached link always displays the page in the same manner as it
was indexed and this is used by Google to match the relevancy of
the page to the query submitted by the user.

The "Cached" link will be missing for sites that have not been
indexed, as well as for sites whose owners have requested Google
not to cache their content.

Google Web Search Features

Google offers a variety of special features which helps users to
find exactly what they are looking which is all in addition to
providing easy access to more than 3 billion web pages. The
following is an overview of its key features:

- Calculator

Google has a built-in calculator function which can be used to
calculate mathematical expressions involving basic arithmetic, more
complicated math, units of measure and conversions, physical
constants and even hexadecimal and binary numbering systems. You
can simply enter the expression you'd like evaluated in the search
box and hit the Enter key or click the Google Search button.

- Dictionary Definitions

When searching about any particular term, if the Google database
has a definition or meaning for the term, then it will be
highlighted with an underline on the results page. This definition
is derived in association with a reliable dictionary source.
- File Types

In addition to HTML files, Google search also supports 12 other
formats such as PDF, Microsoft Office, PostScript, Corel
WordPerfect, Lotus 1-2-3, and others. Additionally, Google also
offers the user the ability to "View as HTML", which allows users
to view these files in case the corresponding software is not
installed on the user's PC. It also eliminates the hazards of
opening a virus-infected document.

- News Headlines

While searching for a particular term, if that term is also in any
of the current news, it is displayed as a separate news link on the
results page. This is derived from various news providers who work
in association with Google and who let Google monitor them.

A new offering - Advanced News Search

A new offering from Google - Advanced News Search, allows visitors
to scour headlines by date, location, exact phrases or publication.
People can use it retrieve articles from more than 4,500 news
outlets publishing on the Web. Advanced News Search lets visitors
search for headlines using several parameters. Among other
features, people can locate stories that contain an exact phrase,
within the Unites States or abroad, or written by a specific
publisher.

- Similar Pages

The results page also displays a link for 'similar pages' which
uses the GoogleScout technology to explore the web for similar
pages. This is particularly helpful if you have hit upon a page
which has relevant content, but you want something similar but more.

- Web Page Translation

This feature is particularly helpful if your search has non-English
results. Google offers a facility to automatically translate a
page for you in English. Currently, Google supports Italian,
French, Spanish, German, and Portuguese languages.

- SafeSearch Filtering

Google provides a SafeSearch option to filter pornographic contents
from its results page. This is especially useful for shared
computers which need to be protected for children surfing the
Internet. Google's technology tries to check keywords and
phrases, URLs and Open Directory categories and eliminate these
from the search results.

Submitting your URL to Google

Google is primarily a fully-automatic search engine with no
human-intervention involved in the search process. It utilizes
robots known as 'spiders' to crawl the web on a regular basis for
new updates and new websites to be included in the Google Index.

This robot software follows hyperlinks from site to site. Google
does not require that you should submit your URL to its database
for inclusion in the index, as it is anyway done automatically by
the 'spiders'. However, manual submission of URL can be done by
going to the Google website and clicking the related link.

One important thing here is that Google does not accept payment of
any sort for site submission or improving page rank of your
website. Also, submitting your site through the Google website
does not guarantee listing in the index.

Cloaking

Sometimes, a webmaster might program the server in such a way that
it returns different content to Google than it returns to regular
users, which is often done to misrepresent search engine rankings.

This process is referred to as cloaking as it conceals the actual
website and returns distorted webpages to search engines crawling
the site. This can mislead users about what they'll find when they
click on a search result. Google highly disapproves of any such
practice and might place a ban on the website which is found guilty
of cloaking.

Google Guidelines
Here are some of the important tips and tricks that can be employed
while dealing with Google.

Do's

- A website should have crystal clear hierarchy and links and
should preferably be easy to navigate.

- A site map is required to help the users go around your site and
in case the site map has more than 100 links, then it is advisable
to break it into several pages to avoid clutter.

- Come up with essential and precise keywords and make sure that
your website features relevant and informative content.

- The Google crawler will not recognize text hidden in the images,
so when describing important names, keywords or links; stick with
plain text.

- The TITLE and ALT tags should be descriptive and accurate and the
website should have no broken links or incorrect HTML.

- Dynamic pages (the URL consisting of a '?' character) should be
kept to a minimum as not every search engine spider is able to
crawl them.

- The robots.txt file on your web server should be current and
should not block the Googlebot crawler. This file tells crawlers
which directories can or cannot be crawled.

Don'ts

- When making a site, do not cheat your users, i.e. those people
who will surf your website. Do not provide them with irrelevant
content or present them with any fraudulent schemes.

- Avoid tricks or link schemes designed to increase your site's
ranking.

- Do not employ hidden texts or hidden links.

- Google frowns upon websites using cloaking technique. Hence, it
is advisable to avoid that.

- Automated queries should not be sent to Google.

- Avoid stuffing pages with irrelevant words and content. Also
don't create multiple pages, subdomains, or domains with
significantly duplicate content.

25 Things Not to Do When You're Building Links

One of the best ways to promote your site and build your authority in your community and for the search engines is to build links to your site.

You might think you have your link building campaign in hand, but are you sure you're doing it right?

Here are 25 things to avoid when you're link building.

Don't:

1. Hide links off a page.
This is a sneaky CSS trick Google doesn't like.

2. Buy links where everyone else is buying.
Get off the beaten path; if you buy where everyone else is buying, you dilute the value of the links.

3. Purchase links from any link builder that lists their inventory online.
Google can see that list as well ya know.

4. Use automated link building software.
Talk about leaving a footprint.

5. Use the same anchor text over and over.
Your anchor text density should look natural and varied.

For general ideas about anchor text density or variation, check out your competitors' usage.

6. Overuse the same type of links.
Sitewide links, reciprocal, 3 way links, high or Low PR, social media, press releases, article directories;you get the point. Diversify!

7. Have unnatural PR patterns in your backlinks.
It's not natural to have only high PR backlinks, or low ones, for that matter.

You need a healthy mix of higher and lower PR backlinks.

8. Place links in paid or sponsored sections.
Search engines are getting better and better at spotting these and thus lowering their PR and ranking weight.

9. Spam Wikipedia for links.
Get a Wikipedia link you deserve and it will stick around.

10. Spam (insert favorite social media site here) with fake DIGGS.

Do you like your reputation? Thought so. Produce something DIGG worthy instead.

11. Spam gov or .edu forums.
You want gov or .edu links? Earn them. These links are easy to get if you offer them content that fills a need.

12. Comment spam blogs or guest books.
Do this if you enjoy being hated by influential content publishers.

13. Create a onetime link spike.
While some links spikes are good (e.g. press releases, articles, viral campaigns), don't buy or build 50 links that all go live in 3 days and then stop. Spread your campaign out over time.

14. Focus on keywords you already rank for.
Have you calculated what those rankings would cost your business if you lost them? I suggest some preventative maintenance.

15. Create a link directory on your site.
That's so 1999. Oh, and it doesn't work.

16. Send out random "link to me" requests.
Mass reciprocal link campaigns don't work. This can also cause loss of reputation quickly.

You don't want a bunch of junky, non-relevant backlinks cluttering up your profile anyhow. Only send a link request if it makes real sense for both sites to become link partners.

17. Don't send a generic letter if you're requesting a link.

Nobody likes impersonal letters. Take the time to compose a nice email that lays your proposal out in a personal way.

If you're link building correctly, then any link you have to email or call for should be done with the utmost of care and sincerity.

18. Create an article exchange on your site.
Better to host high quality content you produce and link out to high quality content in your niche, rather than having a spate of links on a random page of your site.

19. Use link networks.
Search engines spot artificial link networks easily; those 5,000 instant links you got are going to come back and bite you.

20. Submit to 5000 directories for $19.95.
You get what you pay for and in this case it will be NOTHING!

Instead buy or submit free to hand selected directories that have a relevant page for your niche. Make sure the exact page you are getting a link on has at least a PR1.

Many directories will throw your listing 200 pages deep in a category.

We have tested over 600 directories in fact and found all but a small portion of them were worthless (supplemental results) to submit to. So do your homework.

21. Forget to add anchor link text.
Anchor text is a must-have for any link you get, so make sure you include it.

22. Don't spam forums.
Don't comment just to add a link in to your signature. Forums are great for building your authority in your niche, but behave as a helpful expert, not a low-level sleaze.

Also, keep in mind that some forums disable signature links, while you have to earn them by posting helpfully and gaining authority within the forum.

23. Use 301 redirect urls excessively.
Used in moderation this can be very effective, but do you really think 300 redirects to your site look natural?

24. Don't send annoying updates.
You don't have to email everyone in your community every time you make a post. It's ok to be excited but moderation is good.

25. Stop building links once you reach the top.
Do you stop promoting your site when you become an industry leader? Then why stop building links? For more visit http://www.authoritydomains.com/

Success with Internet Marketing from Home

Going online means you no longer have to hire a professional to get powerful marketing results. Success with internet marketing can come from your home office once you discover the keys to promoting your business online.

Your Starting Point

First, you will need a website. It is best if you do your homework and select optimal keywords before you get your domain name. Then you can separate the keyword phrase with hyphens when composing your domain name, thereby making your keywords more accessible to search engines.

Keywords

Next, you will need to optimize the keywords as you build and add content to your website so that the search engines will find your site and rank it well. If there is too high a percentage of keywords can hurt rather than help your pursuit of good search engine visibility. Seek out some effective Search Engine Optimization tools to help you succeed in getting a website that will rank highly.

Links and Traffic

After you've done what you can to build an effective website, you will need to turn your attention to letting people know about it. Getting links to your website is critical if you want people to find it. You can draw traffic to your website in a variety of ways, and you should try at least several of these options in order to build links and traffic.

1) Write articles—lots of them—and submit them to article directories. At the end of the article, your resource box gives your name, some brief information, and links to your website.

2) Create a blog that you update frequently. People enjoy the casual, conversational style of blogs, and if they like yours well enough, they may even subscribe to it as an RSS feed.

3) Answer questions on forums that deal with a topic related to your website. You can generate better leads by writing truly helpful responses rather than posting only for self-promotion purposes.

4) Create a lens on Squidoo. Here you can promote your website for free, and possibly earn money for charity and perhaps yourself while you are at it.

E-mail List

Gathering e-mail addresses from people who respond to an offer on your website, blog, or resource box is what you need to do in order to begin an e-mail marketing campaign. You want people who are interested enough to "opt in" and sign up for your list. E-mail is a way to stay on the radar of people who might eventually decide to come to your website to buy.

Your Results

Finally, you should be tracking where the visitors to your website are coming from and work toward improving how many people you reach and how likely they are to buy from you (your conversion rate). The best marketers are always trying to evaluate their results in order to improve them. By staying on top of overall marketing trends and strategies as well as monitoring how well your own efforts are paying off, you can gain success with internet marketing. The satisfaction and savings that come from doing it yourself are what will keep you and your business moving forward. For more http://jointopmarketer.com/

The Advantages Of Targeted Traffic

Let's face it, traffic is the life blood of any business. Without it, the business or website is useless and a waste of time and effort. Yet many webmasters do not know how to get the kind of traffic they need to really prosper. As a result, many spend great deals of money on first one kind of advertising then another. After awhile they get frustrated by the lack of results and give up.

These webmasters follow a simple (if misguided) idea that if they throw enough traffic at a particular website something will stick and they will make a sale. While this idea can be true, it is an expensive way to promote. More than likely, it will end in failure.

There are two basic types of traffic to be had online. Targeted traffic and untargeted traffic. Targeted traffic is what all webmasters crave it is harder to get and retain but more profitable. Untargeted traffic is considered by many as a waste as it doesn't really get the webmaster who uses it any real sales. Certainly not enough to make any real profits.

Just think, if a webmaster is buying untargeted traffic, he may, in fact, get it. But most of this traffic will be from people who are not really interested in the products but are being paid to simply visit the site. The webmaster may see a few sales, but the odds are against it. These people will move on to other sites and likely never return.

On the other hand, if you are getting visits from people who are honestly interested in your product or service, then your chances for sales go up considerably.

How To Find Quality Traffic

The statement above begs the question, where do webmasters find that kind of traffic? The answers may surprise you.

THe biggest source of traffic to date is the search engines. In fact, some of the best means of generating targeted traffic also have the added benefit of influencing the search engine rankings. One good example of this is in the form of article marketing.

For each original content article that is put out becomes a front page for the website is represents. Strategically assigning relavent keywords to those articles can help get the articles ranked in the search engines, which can benefit the site. The articles need to be of good quality to capture the reader's interest enough for them to visit the site. Ironically, the articles will often show up in any given search before the site they represent do.

Reciprocal linking, or link trading, is another means of building quality traffic while benefiting the search engine rankings as well. The benefits to this type of traffic building come in two primary forms. The first form is through the links themselves. The website with the lower page rank benefit from the traffic overflow. The other, higher ranked, website benefits as well but to a lesser degree.

Both websites benefit to one degree or another from the links themselves as they are measured in the search engines to determine importance and ranking.

Finally, one excellent way to gain targeted traffic is to write a report and give it away. You can use nearly any media but free reports are a good low cost starter. This is one form of viral marketing. It is considered to be the best marketing technique that any webmaster can use. The quality traffic generated is the most profitable.

It is important to keep in mind that targeted traffic is sometimes harder to get. It also takes longer to get it started as opposed to e-mail marketing and the like. But the advantages of targeted traffic are far superior than untargeted traffic. For more visit http://www.e-profitsubmissions.com/

Guidelines on Search Engine Optimization

SEO or Search Engine Optimization plays a very big part in the advertising of products and services offered by internet marketing campaigns. Through search engines, marketers can advertise their businesses and get more hits and website visits. Their success is determined by their rank in the dominating search engines in the World Wide Web.

The first thing you should do in SEO is also the biggest mistake others commit. You should choose the right keywords for your website. The best keywords are not what you personally know about your business. The best way you could find the most appropriate keywords for your site is by using the Wordtracker. This site provides you with the exact keywords searchers use on search engines which are appropriate to your website. These searchers are your potential customers. Through using the right keywords you can get high rankings on the search engines.

Another thing you should do is the isolation keyword method. Most people try to cram as many keywords into a webpage as possible. Most SEO experts would suggest a maximum of only 15 keywords in a page. This approach is quite old. It works but it takes much longer for you to rise in the rankings. What you should do is create a list of as many keyword phrases as possible. And a single page should be created for each phrase. For example, your keyword is Advantages of SEO, the page you will create must be only for this keyword. You wouldn't have to pick only one keyword phrase for you website. Instead, you will make individual pages for the keyword phrases you chose.

The next thing to do is building the structure of each page. Each page should start off with its corresponding keyword phrase as its heading. The first paragraph should include your keyword phrase and should also contain your Meta description. The next paragraph should have a bold subtitle of you keyword phrase. And finally, the last paragraph of the page should again include your keyword phrase as most search engines read it.

Interlinking your pages together is a must. The link from one page of your website to another is very important. When creating these links, you should be sure that the link is the keyword phrase of the page it is linked to. This will help the user view the other pages of your site easier. Making the title of the link the exact keyword phrase you used for the page will make it easier for the user to know what the page he/she will access contains.

There are many things you shouldn't do on SEO. Don't put your websites name in your Meta title. Search engines will list you without your site's name. Don't hold back on text. Each page should contain at least 250 words. Stick to one subject per page as this may confuse your readers. Spiders have a hard time reading your url's if you put database parameters on them. Stay away from flash pretty much for the same reason. Don't use frames, don't ask why. And finally always keep your html code streamlined so that search engines won't have a hard time reading them.

If you follow these simple guidelines, you will see your ranking dramatically improve. And through these guidelines you can avoid the common mistakes others do on SEO. For more visit http://www.easymlmprofits.com/

Role of Meta Title Tag in SEO

Do you want to secure a top ranking in search engine result pages(SERP)?

I think every one is going to answer - Yes. And a very common belief is that add lot of most searched keywords in the meta tags of your web pages and see your site skyrocketing. But it feels highly frustrating when this magic proves of no avail. Remember, meta tags alone don't do a magic in getting better placed in the search pages. These meta tags sure help you to describe your web pages to a search engine and gain a better place in its results. But at the same time they help search engine too to prevent indexing of improper web pages. Which may have good weight keywords in their meta tags but having no relationship with the contents of the page.

Meta tags are the blocks which contain information about the contents of your web page and they exist into the head area of your web page. They are basically meant to communicate with the search engine. Most of the Meta tags are visible to the search engine only and not the visitor on your web page. But, Title tag is one which is visible to the search engine and the visitor as well. Most importantly, it attracts the search engine and the visitor very aggressively. Most search engines consider this tag as the primary information about the site and also an human visitor sees this information as the first thing on top left corner of the browser. Moreover, when one bookmarks the site, the text in this tag appears in the bookmarks list.

In this article, I have tried to focus mainly on 'Title Meta Tag' that how a good Title Meta Tag can render a great help in optimization of a website.

What is the significance of Meta Title Tag

Amongst the three major Meta tags (Meta Title Tag, Meta Keywords Tag, Meta Description Tag) the Title Tag is one which is given the most weight by search engines' algorithms. In fact, this tag should be written so that it should give the idea about your site instantly. A perfect written Title tag can generate quick and appreciable traffic to your site. The text written in this tag appears as clickable text in the search engine result page (SERP) and if it is really meaningful and conveys most about the web page, more clickthroughs will be the result.

This small example explains the function of Meta Title tag better. Suppose I need to visit San Francisco and need a road map of the city and go to a book store to find the same. There are lot of books on tourism and travel with different titles but my attention will go to a title which says something like ""Latest Road Map of San Francisco"" rather than a title ""All about San Francisco"". May be the second book contains better information about the subject I am looking for. But the title of first one speaks exactly about what I need. This how a better title gains priority over the other because of the contents of its title. This is exactly what happens with search engine. It picks the most matching title with the query and places in its result page as clickable text.

Should the Company name appear in Title Tag

Well, I would say sure if your company is really a big entity like IBM, Microsoft or Cisco or some well know brand like Sony, Phillips etc. Because people may want to search for those companies or brands with their names. But in normal cases it should not be so.

Suppose, your company is ""Larry Tours and Travels"" in San Francisco. Instead of writing ""Welcome to the home of Larry Tours and Travels"" in the title tag it would be better to write something like ""tour operators, travel agents, car rental, bay area tours, san francisco tours - Larry Tours and Travel"". Do a good research to find best keywords and phrases which describe your site best. My suggestion is that the length of the title tag should be between 15 to 20 words making it attractive enough that it looks interesting to the person searching for your business and he clicks through.

Few tips for writing good Title tags.

Try including the content relevant keywords in the title tag. This would help placing your site better in search engine result page (SERP) when someone searches those keywords.

Also do not use repeating keywords and phrases in your title tag because this may be treated as spamming by search engines and they may affect your ranking.

Either don't include your company name in the title tag or add it after few most relevant keywords, phrases into the title tag.

Write different title tags for each web page of your website instead of writing a common title page for the complete site. Make sure that each title tag has relevance with the contents of that web page where it appears.

Try to keep the length of your title tag small (between 15 to 20 words). Some search engines allow small title tags only and truncate the extra part of the longer ones which at times may render your title tag completely meaningless.

I would say that write very meaningful, impressive title tag they are a really powerful can be best tool to optimize your site. The title tag has most dominant role while the search engines make their decision about the theme of the website. When a search for keywords is conducted, the Title tag is given heavy consideration by most search engine algorithms. As I said earlier, since each page in your website is unique so it needs a different Title tag.

So, Writing relevant and meaningful title tag is something which may achieve high rankings in search engine result pages (SERP) and result high clickthroughs to your site. The Meta Keywords Tag and Meta Description Tag also need to be taken care of and optimized equally in addition to that of Meta Title Tag to secure a place at the top of the search engines and in convincing a search engine that your site's contents are more relevant than that of your competitor's. Good Article is a improtant part of Web Optimization

Writing articles on the internet and expressing them to the web audience is gradually over-taking the conventional media. The influence of Search engines has also changed the overall style of writing articles which are more optimized for the internet. Writing articles is also the best tool to promote your blog or website. A majority of traffic that a web page receives depends on how well it's evaluated by search engines and presented in their results for a given search keyword. Search engines are not humans so it is important that your article is optimized for both web audience and search engines like Google. We have outlined a few important things that one should follow when writing an article which you intend to publish on the internet. 1. Keyword Density: It is important that your main keyword or the theme of the article is repeated multiple times, thus helping the search engine to know what exactly the article is about. For example if your article title is about the 'Problems faced by the Cyclone victims of Burma". Just think, keeping such a long theme as your keyword is not practical, I would personally shorten it to just "Cyclone victims of Burma". Even further (in this context), the major keywords are clearly "Cyclone" and Burma". You should try to repeat these two in your article body multiple times. Induce these words in such a manner so that the overall flow of reading the article is not disrupted. 2. Title of your article: Title should be attention grabbing and should include your keyword, for example "Cyclone victims of Burma - Cyclone problems and issues". You were smartly able to inject the word "Cyclone" twice, (which is your main keyword) in the subject line. Selecting a good title is the most important part of your article. 3. Article Length: Your articles should always be greater than 300 words. There is no upper limit but usually articles between 500 to 800 words are easy to read by most people. 4. Keep interest of users: Break your article into topics and paragraphs. Add some interesting numbers if you can, bold the important sections and even use bullet points if you can. More than anything your article should contain useful content and always try to provide correct information as much as possible. Use examples to explain your point wherever applicable. 5. Personal information: Never mention any personal information like phone number or email address in your article as spammers and telemarketers can get hold of it. But if you are somebody like a Travel Agent and want to receive calls then it may make sense to provide your contact details. 6. Even make money: You can run your own blog and put advertisements on the side. If you are not really tech/html savvy then there are several sites which invite users to submit articles on their site by filling simple forms and making money via Adsense. 7. Write articles frequently: By releasing articles frequently you may eventually make a loyal base of readers who will read your articles on a regular basis. 5 Steps to a Popular and Profitable Blog

Blogging is a hot way for an ordinary person to make some cash on the net. Anybody with a computer and an Internet connection can make it in this market. You've no doubt come across many blogs and maybe you've thought about starting one yourself.

Here are some common sense advice on how to get your thoughts out of your head and into your blog. Listen up.

1. You're the boss.

Don't worry about what people will think when you blog. Just write what you feel, what is in your heart, and your fans will find you!

2. What To Write About.

What if you can't think of ideas, where can you get ideas to write about?

There is so many ways to research ideas, that I could spend a year writing about each one. Here is just a few things you can write about.

1. Got to YouTube or Myspece and find something to talk about .Go to the major news sites and blog about current events in your home town, the nation, or the world 3. Scan a few community forums and blog about what people are talking about.

3. Ok Ok, I get the Idea, but I really don't have time to maintain a blog.

If the thought of committing to your blog gives you weak knees, you can always schedule a bunch of posts in advance.

A lot of blogging software give you the option to schedule your posts, giving you the flexibility to post at regular intervals even if you have a short period of time to commit to your blog.

For example, when you have time to blog, generate a list of ideas for articles, tutorials and other things that you might be interested in. Brainstorm at least ten different topics and create a 3-4 sentence paragraph about each topic. Then create a post for each idea using the future post to schedule the posts.

If you want, you can post 1/2/3 blog posts per week. Now, your blog will be set on autopilot, posting for you when you can't be there.

4. Show Me the Money!

How can you make money with your blog. Once your blog has useful content, you can monetize your site with nice programs like Adsense or Amazon. I suggest that if you are using amazon you go with products that you hand pick so they are exactly targeted to the subject of each web page.

A lot of experts recommend you wait a month before you start thinking about site monetization. I can see the logic in this. After all, you want to have a decent collection of interesting projects, ideas, articles and related stuff before you start looking for the money.

But, don't expect overnight riches. In fact, don't expect a dime for at least 3 to 5 months after you start your blog. If you use money as your primary motivation for blogging, you will burn out.

5. Time is Your Best Friend.

A lot of the popular blogs that are making nice change have been around forever. Maybe you've heard of a friend of a friend that's making a ton of money on a crappy blog he started only a few weeks ago. Every time you hear these stories, remember that these great results are not typical. I guarantee you that a person like that is buying advertising to get traffic to their blog, that their content is uninteresting, and that their blog will be down in a years time.

A good website is like fine wine. The longer you blog ages and is allowed to develop, the more valuable your blog will be. For more visit http://wildcashflow.com/

Great Website! But where are your customers

1. Pay Per Click (PPC)

Nothing new to anyone on the net. Every major search engine offers it in one form or the other. A great way to drive traffic to your site. But only if you know how to use it.

You must select keywords that will drive traffic to your site but will not cause your CPC bill to skyrocket without converting prospects into sales. Your description must also complement your keyword so that it reinforces your products and services.

The persons who click have interest in your goods but are still prospects. What goods are they interested in however. If my food site should use a keyword phrase "oral pleasure" relating to food and tastiness, I might be surprised to get a lot of clicks but no sales. Why, you might ask? Most likely the persons clicking on my link got there while searching for adult links for oral pleasure.

Funny you might think, but everyday, advertisers haphazardly choose keywords that have no bearing on their site. They now start to receive customers but have no conversions as these were not targeted visitors. By now the CPC bill is high and sales are still low to non-existent.

So for my food site, a better choice of keyword would be "jerk seasoning", and if I wanted to narrow my target market more with specific searches, I would use "Jamaican jerk seasoning". This would be sure to send me only targeted customers searching for my products. My conversion rate will be higher out of this batch of qualified prospects.

2. Text Ads

Advertisers can sponsor text ads for varying periods on different search engines.
These text ads run from as little as $12 per 3 month period and give good exposure to a wide market, but is again dependent on keyword and description choices.

3.Buy Traffic

There are sites that are wholly designated to selling web traffic. The rates vary but traffic can be bought from as little as $2.99 per thousand visitor.

The type of traffic is dependent on where the traffic is from. Traffic is generated from expired domains and redirected traffic. Traffic can also be classified into geographic regions and by shopping preferences. The more targeted choices are more costly but give a better quality visitor.

If your business is in the USA selling golf shoes, a US visitor who is a golfer is going to be a more qualified visitor than one who lives in Bahrain and does not know what golf is.

Some traffic sites send visitors based on auto generated views. This might boost the stats on your site but will not generate sales. You need to ensure that real people are viewing your site and not automated software. If you are going to pay for traffic then you need to get real traffic.

Some websites will tell you they are sending visitors, when they mean hits. 1000 hits is not the same as 1000 visitors. Everytime a visitor comes to your site they generate hits. Every image that opens generates a hit. So you can see the difference between the promise of 1000 hits vs 1000 visitors. 100 visitors just might, depending on your landing page, generate a 1000 hits.

4. Links

Joining paid link exchanges is a great way to get incoming links to your site. This method until recently was a good enough method, but Google's recent change to its view on paid Link Exchanges means that less value is placed on incoming links.

It is still a fairly valuable tool as the other members with whom you link, the traffic from their sites now have a link to you. The drawback is when your link is so far down the page that customers to that site will never have easy access.

5. Search Engines

Not by any means last or the least effective method. The major search engines will drive most of your traffic tot your site. Google delivers at least 60% of a sites search engine traffic, and so websites must be optimized and tweaked to achieve higher ranking in the engines. Higher ranking translates to appearing in the first few results. the higher up you rank and place the more your traffic from the search engine. With this method, optimization and submission of the site is paramount. A good SEO can tweak your site to make it search engine friendly including optimizing your meta tags such as Keywords, description and title. For more visit http://www.infozabout.com

They were not paid to, or lacked the knowledge of making behind the scenes code changes so you become a competing force against tens of millions of other sales website pages appearing on the internet.

YOU MAY HAVE RECEIVED SEO - SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION EMAILS

These are suppose to be honest search engine firms, but if they solicited you. You should know often that making quick money is their true incentive. Making your sales website popular so that visitors search out your site to buy your product is a lesser priority. A very widely used internet scam is telling you that shortly you will be listed on all the seeach engine, the search directories, the meta crawlers, and the directory portals. These currently number around 1,300. 400 of these might not even be in the United States.

For a special price today of $287.00, the scam artists are going to get you listed on all these 1,300 search engines and directories. When Google controls 60% of traffic, and Yahoo, MSN, and Ask 30%, it means you just got ripped off. These are USELESS.Millions of sites are listed on the internet. So are ignored by the big players, and listed under low traffic search directories. GETTING LISTED by itself does not mean anything. Please beware of the operators that charge a few hundred to $1,000 promising a top ten listing on Google. I get these form solicitations invitations, yet my sales website is ranked higher than their site is.

Here are 3 Easy to Implement SEARCH OPTIMIZATION MUSTS - Free

The first two are simple, highly effective techniques that only a SEO PRO uses

Let's say your agency is named, "Jones and Smith Sales Enterprises". Your major product sales come from selling used motorcycles and accessories.. How in the universe (internet) do expect someone to come to your site interested in purchasing a used motorcycle or accessories? Your site domain name is likely bobjonesmotorcycles.com, and the title of your insurance website is Jones and Smith Sales Enterprises. When it comes to description for your sales website, likely none was written.

CORRECT MISTAKE #1 - THE WEBSITE URL DOMAIN NAME

Unless your ego is so bloated, you have to make a decision. Do want your website collecting dust with no visitors? Or would you finally enjoy FREE visitors seeing your sales website listings and then visiting your website to inquire about used motorcycles and accessories?

TO CORRECT #1. Your top sales key words MUST be right inside your new domain name. Pay $10 to $25 and get a new domain name that sparks up flames. Using used- motorcycles-parts.com gives Google and Yahoo key words to evaluate in listing your site higher.

CORRECT MISTAKE #2 - THE TITLE OF YOUR SALES WEBSITE

Your website title should be no more than 5 or 6 words. The website title MUST use keywords reflecting what you are selling. Therefore "Used Motorcycles, Motorcycle Accessories" would be an effective and terrific website title. This allows Google, Yahoo, etc.to identify that you are selling used motorcycles. Information they need to list your site higher.

CORRECT MISTAKE #3 - THE DESCRIPTION OF YOUR INSURANCE WEBSITE.

Here you have 2 to 3 sentences to name your company and what insurance you are promoting. Check closely to see if you even have the description listed. Hit View on your page header and then select page source, look for this a few lines down. It should read exactly: meta name="description" content="". If it is missing, YOU MUST copy and paste it in using your website editor. Again you want to help Google by using key words in your description. Here is as sample for the above website. Place information like this in between the quote marks you copied and pasted. "Used Motorcycles for Sale is Bob's used motorcycles and accessories out of Dallas. We provide affordable nationwide shipping, and a list of local appraise you may need to insurance your motorcycle immediately. Sorry no custom motorcycles. "

THE FACTS

Of millions of websites of all varieties your sales website is lost. Google has 65,000,000 pages listed under motorcycles, and 9,600,000 under motorcycle parts. When you search used motorcycles you get 1,300,000, and used motorcycle parts brings 390.000 pages. Using used motorcycles for sale nails it down to 390,000 pages.

Just by simply implementing these 3 rarely use tips. you leave most of your competitors in the dust. This process alone should pass enough other motorcycle sales websites to put you in the 500th position. Moving from millions to 500 for free is valuable advice.

There are another 2 dozen or so tricks and tips in sales website optimization to get you where the traffic flows. SEO(Search Engine Optimization) For Noob's

Every web master is looking for more, highly targeted traffic. SEO, or Search Engine Optimization can help with that goal. Tremendous amounts of traffic can come from a few small changes in SEO.

A search engine searches the web for information on relevant topics found on web sites. Internet searches are performed using keywords. Search engines index keywords and the sites where they located them. For instance, if you search for the keyword vitamin, the search engine will return a list of sites that contain the word vitamin. The search engines sort through infinite amounts of data to help searchers find exactly what they're looking for.

The search engine needs to find the information to be able to provide users with relevant results. This is done using what are called web robots or spiders. These spiders constantly "crawl" the Internet looking for new content. Once they find this information it is organized and indexed into a list. The spiders generally start the search for new information on popular sites. From there they spread out following every link on the website. They index the words on the web sites and in the links keeping track of where they were found.

At optimal levels the spiders are very fast covering about 100 pages per second. Spiders crawl web pages from behind the scenes, from top to bottom, left to right, much like we read the page. Keywords close to the top of the page are given more weight. As are keywords in bold, title text, underlined, italicized or highlighted in some way.

In addition to the text you see the spiders also read the meta tags on the site. Meta tags allow the webmaster to select key words and ideas to help index the site.

Once the information is found and indexed it is organized to be used by searchers. The index includes the key word or key word phrase, The URL, and how many times the keyword appeared on the page. The job of the search engine is to return the most relevant results for your search, so key words are weighted based on the density of the keyword on the site.

The exact methodology used by the search engines is a highly guarded secret. In order to optimize your page, you must know some of the basics of how the search engines work.

If you want to maximize the traffic you receive from search engines it is important to practice good SEO. There's a tremendous amount of information available on the Internet including articles, eBooks and even free courses teaching SEO techniques. For more visit http://www.theseosecretrevealed.com/

David A. Utter | Staff Writer

Look for the complaints to fly into the DoJ's antitrust department
if Google and Yahoo broaden the scope of an advertising deal
placing Google ads in Yahoo's search results.

The two companies got in touch with Justice before starting a
brief trial of Google's AdSense for Search on Yahoo. Despite those
conversations, antitrust regulators still had some concerns about
the top two search sites teaming up on contextual advertising.

There may be more questions after today, and we're certain
Microsoft will shout suggestions from the sidelines. The Wall
Street Journal said Google and Yahoo could be close to placing
a new agreement on ads into effect.

They hope to avoid the sting of an antitrust investigation by
employing a new system, which would broaden the delivery of ads
to any network participating in it:

"The basis of such an arrangement would be a real-time auction
system that would choose the most lucrative ads for any given
consumer query from among those sold by Yahoo, Google and any of
their competitors, the people say. Microsoft, for example, could
potentially connect to the Yahoo system and have search ads it
sold displayed alongside Yahoo Web-search results, under an
arrangement where they likely would share ad revenue."

Plugging Google's ads into Yahoo may be worth over a billion
dollars a year in revenue to Yahoo, according to an analyst
cited by the Journal.

However, the potential deal may not be universally welcome
within Google's ranks, as the Journal cited some dissension
among Google's top brass. They fear the effects of a Justice
probe into the deal; Google has a global brand, one they do
not want to endanger.

The decision will fall to Google's ruling triumvirate of Eric
Schmidt, Larry Page, and Sergey Brin. If they truly feel their
solution will withstand Justice scrutiny, we expect it to
happen, closely followed by Microsoft making whatever legal
appeals it can to stop the deal.

Double click Performics

Google announced on their official blog today that they will be selling Performics Search Marketing, a company they acquired as part of their DoubleClick acquisition.

Most people saw this coming as it seemed an obvious conflict of interest having the largest search engine owning and operating an SEO/SEM firm.

Google Director
we closed the acquisition of double click on March 11, we’ve been immersed in integration planning for each of our products and business units. Recently we completed this process for the double click Performics businesses, and have decided to split them into two separately-run business units: Affiliate Marketing and Search Marketing.

It’s clear to us that we do not want to be in the search engine marketing business. Maintaining objectivity in both search and advertising is paramount to Google’s mission and core to the trust we ask from our users. For this reason, we plan to sell the Performics search marketing business to a third party. We believe this will allow us to maintain objectivity and the search marketing business to continue to grow and innovate and serve its customers. While we have not yet identified a buyer, we’ve received preliminary interest from a number of our current partners. Search Marketing will continue to run as a separate entity until the division is sold.

We plan to integrate the affiliate marketing business into existing Google operations, providing enhanced value and reach for our affiliate advertisers, and additional tools and monetization opportunities for our publishers. Together, we believe that we can continue to grow this business and deliver on the high expectations from partners.

Where it’s applicable in Europe, these plans and their implications for employees are subject to consultation with staff and employee representatives. During this transition, we will ensure that all affiliate and search marketing customers receive the same high level of service they have always experienced.
